Now fully grown many are in the role of parenting and parting wisdom to younger and older to grown children, grands and a host of others. This blog is influenced by Proverbs known as “The Wisdom of God,” an inspired collection of wise sayings designed for you and I for practical use. Proverbs means “Many words squeezed into few,” a short sentence drawn from long experiences. An in-dept truth shortly said. It is also known as “The School of Wisdom versus the School of Foolishness.
We must note Proverbs was written particularly for young people especially young men and more specifically for Solomon’s son. Yet is applicable for everyone. Wisdom in this context is defined as the “Practical application of God’s Principles to Daily Life.” Yes, we have a job to do and again IT AIN’T OVER, UNTIL ITS OVER!
Wisdom that you and I are imparting to others today is it only based on our life experiences, self-centeredness to be only about me and mine; and/or have we given up and said, “They have to learn the “Hard way;” do we continue to say the same thing over and over again hoping “They get it.” Maybe we need to pray a little harder or more. Maybe we need to model what we say. The day is over to “Do what I say, not what I do.” Maybe we talk too much by putting their business “Out in the streets?” Maybe we are too negative, never a good Word—something positive to encourage and give hope. Then maybe we got it “Right” and help someone else to be more positive. Yet you may have tried that, thus let’s keep on praying asking God to let them see His light to speak life into that son, daughter and others, not destruction.
Now bringing Proverbs’ words of Wisdom to address practical life matters. Taken from Faith Bible Institute, Volume III Commentary Series.
“Proverbs 1:2-6 B: The purposes: (1) To give knowledge which is the possession of truth, information or facts. To know…to the young man or woman is knowledge (Prov 1:2a,4b);
(2) To give Wisdom is the ability to use knowledge rightly, to know wisdom, to receive wisdom (Prov 1:2b,3a). Further defined-wisdom is the ability to see life from God’s perspective and to practically apply God’s principles to daily life;
(3) To give Instruction: The impartation of knowledge. The Hebrew word carries the idea of learning by discipline. To know instruction, to receive the instruction of wisdom (Prov 1:2c,3a);
(4) To give Understanding: The comprehension of knowledge: knowing what information means. Therefore to perceive the words of understanding (Prov 1:2d);
(5) To give Justice: Right moral understanding and behavior to receive justice (Prov 1:3b);
(6) To give Judgment: The ability to make wise decisions and judgment (Prov 1:3c)
(7) To give Equity: fairness; the ability to judge things evenly, without bias; the ability to build our thinking on truth and Scripture instead of fitting truth and Scripture to our thinking and equity (Prov 1:3d);
(8) To give Subtilty: Prudence, the ability to see basic or underlying root issues, to see the bottom line, to comprehend the whole picture, including all the subtle (not so clear) nuances of meaning or the hidden meaning or motives behind words. To give subtilty to the simple (Prov 1:4a)
(9) To give Discretion: The ability to plan wisely; the ability to see the long range consequences of decisions. To the young man/woman discretion (Prov 1:4b);
(10) To give Learning: The ability to receive and absorb truth. A wise man will hear and will increase learning. (Prov 1:5a);
(11) To give Wise Counsels: The ability to understand and follow wise guidance, to wisely guide one self or others. A man/woman of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels (Prov 1:5b).
(12) Notes what our response to the study of Proverbs should be from Proverbs 1:5: (a) The wise and understanding man will seek to hear and learn from God’s wisdom. (Prov 1:5); (b) The fool, however, hates knowledge and instruction. (Prov 1:7, 22,25,30; 17:16; 18:2).
Let’s stop right here and plan to return next Monday with some clarity on our roles or to see how we fit in as “Wisdom planters” since IT AIN’T OVER, UNTIL IT’S OVER! Share your thoughts and until then, YOUR DESTINY, YOUR BEST! Love, peace, joy, happiness and blessings! Neatbooks4u
