The MIDNIGHT HOUR Inspirational Blog-Message was driven through listening to “I’m Lost Without You,” over and over again by the WINANS. The heartfelt song of passion reveals Christ as their Rescuer, an inability to live without Him because the WINANS say, “We trust, love, adore and reverence You, LORD! The repeated phrase “That’s what He [Jesus’] said y’all” reconfirms God’s promises.
As believers, Christ too is our Rescuer in times of troubles, fears, disappointments, all sorts of losses and more. We call on Jesus in the MIDNIGHT HOUR, trusting Him to intervene in our affairs. We say just like the WINANS said, “The LORD holds and rocks us during our MIDNIGHT HOUR situations. LORD You’re not just an “Interventionist” in times of need but, order our steps-direct our paths for daily living for better decision making, patience and able to love the person but, dislike what they did and said. Psalm 37:23-24 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in His way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholds him with His hand. Now when the LORD order our steps, we need to delight in His way. An old saying in dealing with our children, “It’s my way or the highway LOL.” We have no desire to push God away from us. Thanks LORD for Your direction, upholding us up when we fall and caring about us. We are delighted in Your way!
God’s promises are not a “Small but, a “Big thing.” Four of the many promises we have from Him are: Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Psalms 37:4 “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Second Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” Second Corinthians 1:4 “Who comforts us in all our tribulation (pain, sufferings), that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
This study takes me back to years ago when the women at church would fast and gather for special occasions on late Friday evenings for MIDNIGHT HOUR (12:00 a.m.) prayer to early morning. A time of emptiness and breakthrough in the presence of the LORD; as well as increased bonding among the ladies during prayer and breakfast that followed.
Before moving any further “MIDNIGHT” is significant throughout the Bible and generally symbolizes God’s power, presence, divine intervention, salvation (deliverance/rescue) and judgment in the middle of the night to early morning (reference https://biblehub.com/topical/m/midnight.htmote). America and most countries’ MIDNIGHT HOUR is 12:00 a. m. however differs primarily due to time zones and countries that do not observe Daylight Savings Time. Many scriptures supports the importance of MIDNIGHT and God’s divine acts but, let us begin with Creation to understand what constitutes a day to God. The First Day: Light 3v “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” Therefore God’s biblical 24 hour day ends and begins at Midnight. No sunset nor sunrise according to resource bibleask.org and Bibleinsights.com.
MIDNIGHT SUPPORTING SCRIPTURES
Judgment-It was MIDNIGHT when God sent the death angel to destroy the first-born son in the homes of the Egyptian people. At MIDNIGHT, the LORD struck down the firstborn in each home in the land of Egypt (Exodus 11:4; 12:29). Salvation-But the death angel passed over the homes of the children of Israel, sparing them, because of the blood that was sprinkled on the door-posts of their houses.
Most of us are familiar with the actions of the dead son’s mother whom King Solomon ruled against-JUDGEMENT & SALVATION for the real mother who chose to spare her son’s life. First Kings 3:16-27 And this woman's child died in the night; because she overlaid it. And she arose at MIDNIGHT (what was done in the dark/secret was overshadowed by the light), and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
SALVATION-Psalm 119:62 At MIDNIGHT I (David) will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.
SALVATION for the wise virgins; JUDGEMENT for the foolish virgins-Matthew 25:1-13 speaks about the kingdom of heaven in comparison to 10 virgins with their lamps left to meet the bridegroom (think of Jesus as the bridegroom). Five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those foolish took their lamps and failed to take oil in their vessels with them. The wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried (lingered or not yet showed up) they all slumbered and slept. “And at MIDNIGHT there was a cry made, behold, the bridegroom came and they went out to meet him. All the virgins had arose, and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said to the wise, “Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.” The wise answered, saying, “Not so; if we give you what we have, then we will not have enough for ourselves; the foolish virgins were told to go out and buy some oil for themselves. And they did. While they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. The virgins that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterwards the other virgins came and said “LORD, LORD, open to us.” But He answered and said, “Verily I say unto you, I know you not.” The message for us Verse 13 “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes. I don’t know y’all but, Jesus may make His appearance in the MIDNIGHT HOUR. The bottom-line is to be ready!
SALVATION-It was MIDNIGHT at Philippi (a city in northern Greece) when Paul and Silas sang praises to God in the jail. God’s power was demonstrated by an earthquake which resulted in their freedom, and in the SALVATION of the Philippian jailer (Acts 16:25-28). The fact that the earthquake shook the foundations of the prison, opened its doors, and broke off the prisoners’ chains without reducing the prison to rubble was clear evidence of God’s control.
SALVATION-It was MIDNIGHT when the Apostle Paul performed his greatest miracle. He was giving his farewell message to the people of Troas in an upper room on the first day of the week. He had begun to preach at the time of the evening meal, and was still going strong at MIDNIGHT. A young man named Eutychus was in the third-story chamber, way up in the balcony, sitting at an open window. Eutychus fell asleep at the MIDNIGHT hour and tumbled out of the window. The Bible says he was taken up dead (Acts 20:7-9). SALVATION-At that point, Paul went down, touched the dead body, and life was restored. After returning to the upper room and eating some food, Paul continued the message.
God has proven Himself to be, Almighty, Divine, Faithful, the Judge, Powerful and Rescuer during the MIDNIGHT HOUR. He does not SLUMBER NOR SLEEP. Psalm 121:1-7 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence comes my help. My help comes from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy (my) foot to be moved: He that keeps thee will not slumber. Behold, He that keeps Israel shall neither SLUMBER NOR SLEEP. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite (strike) thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.
