This Monday Morning Inspirational Blast focuses on “CHRIST’S DECLARATIONS.” We continue amazement in the depth and power of God-the Son DECLARATIONS of Himself which are bestowed upon Him by God-the Father. Note three of seven metaphors “I AM (S)” found in the Gospel of John. All three DECLARATIONS are proven by the power of Jesus. Crowds witnessed His healing of the sick/lame and followed Him. Let’s begin:
(1) “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE” Jesus fed 5,000 hungry people with 5 loaves of barley bread and two small fish. Jesus filled the peoples’ belly taking away their hunger pains. Jesus said, “For the BREAD of God is He which come down from heaven and gives life unto the world.” Jesus continued by saying “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE he that comes to Me shall never hunger; and he that believes on Me shall never thirst” (John 6:9, 33, 35). Jesus THE BREAD OF LIFE, the Almighty God feeds/fills our physical and spiritual needs.
We believe He does when times are great and are challenged to increase our belief when things are not so great. The “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE is our unchanging God. He has already proven Himself over and over again that He is not a God that lie. Remember last week we said, “He swore on Himself as no/none other is greater” (Hebrew 6:13-20).
(2) "I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD“ the religious leaders brought a woman before Jesus for adultery. They tried to trap Him. Jesus said and paraphrasing, “Any of you without sin cast the first stone”. They all left without casting a stone” (I imagine not even a small rock). “Jesus told the woman to sin no more” (John 8:4, 6-11). What about our sin? Roman 6:1-4 “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Jesus said, “I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the LIGHT OF LIFE (John 8:12). The LIGHT OF LIFE is Jesus living in us. Think about the power of Jesus, His healing, grace, love, mercy, peace, forgiveness, long suffering and so much more is the I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD living in us.
(3) “I AM THE DOOR” John 10:2 “But he (the sheep) that enters in by the DOOR is the Shepherd of the sheep. Then said Jesus unto them again, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, I AM THE DOOR of the sheep (vs. 7). My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me (vs. 27): And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand (vs. 28). My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's Hand (vs. 29). The Shepherd-Jesus watches over us and keeps us. He is our Present Help in our weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Our Shepherd is more than able to keep and sustain us. Then we have double protection. Jesus brags on His Father—our Father. He says, “My Father, which gave them (us-the sheep) to Me is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s Hand.”
Thus we have a heart connection with Christ and He with us. We have a fellowship with Christ through His Spirit to our spirit. THE DOOR of Christ is the entrance into eternal life reigning with the Father, Son, Holy Spirit and God’s heavenly hosts.
