Arise

Jesus raised from the dead the only son of a widow. He was being carried out in a coffin among a large crowd. His mother was crying. Jesus said to her "Do not weep." He then touched the open coffin and said "Young man, I say to you, ARISE. So, he who was dead sat up! (Luke 7:11-16)

I am reminded of Lazarus, the dead brother of Mary and Martha. He had been dead four days, prior to Jesus appearance on the scene. Read John 11:1-44. Jesus arrived and said, "Take away the stone." Martha said, "Lord, by this time there's a stench (he was stink). Jesus cried out with a loud voice "Lazarus, come forth!" Lazarus came out with bounded hand and foot in grave clothes. Jesus told them to "Loose him and let him go."

Whatever we are going through, whatever our situations are, Jesus is saying to us ARISE! One might think it's over. In the midst of feeling dead, Jesus says ARISE, it's not over. In the midst of our stinking problems and situations that seem to have overtaken and bound us. The situation seems grave. It's not over!

Jesus also cried out in a loud voice for Lazarus to come forth. Today Jesus is crying out to us in a loud voice to come forth. Lazarus came out of the grave. Do we hear Jesus calling us? You see, Jesus commanded the people to move the stone for Lazarus to come forth. The stone was blocking his pathway. What stones are blocking our pathway? Are the stones filled with bitterness, anger, pride, deceit, procrastination, people, disappointments, self-pity, and/or jealousy? Will we allow Jesus' help to move the blockage? Once we allow God-His Holy Spirit to help us move the stones away, we will hear Jesus' loud voice to come forth like Lazarus!

When Lazarus came forth Jesus said, "Loose him, and let him go." They had to un-bound his hands, feet and take off those grave clothes. However, when we come forth, we are already free, already loose in the spirit realm from our seemingly grave situations and problems.

We have made free because of Jesus' death, burial, resurrection, and ascension to His/our Heavenly Father. The word ascension is the act of ascending. To RISE is to ascend. Jesus had to ARISE to return to heaven, His rightful place with the Father. In other words, Jesus' work/assignment on earth was complete. His final act at that time was to ARISE and return to His/our Heavenly Father! Therefore, our work/assignment is incomplete, until we fulfill our destiny on earth through Christ and accept His finished work of death to His resurrection; and His ARISE. Yes, we are benefactors of the Holy Spirit enabling us to mirror Christ like attributes on earth. Then at that appointed time will shall venture that final ARISE to live with Christ and His heavenly hosts reigning in the New Heavens and earth.
